Chevrolet: Chevy Cavalier Brake Lights, chevy cavalier, hazard lights

Question
The break lights on my 1999 Cavalier stopped working except for the center mounted light in the spoiler.  The tail, backup and hazard lights work fine, and all the bulb filaments and fuses look fine.  We have found if we put the hazard lights on and press the brake pedal and turn off the hazard lights then the brake lights will work for a short time.  The exposed wiring in the trunk is clean and dry.  What could cause this? Please Help Going Nut with problem.

HI well- check the fuse for the tail lights, and see if the dash lights are out also if so than the fuse is bad or the bulbs are bad. check the break knight switch. the signal light sensor could be bad also it looks like the flasher one but it is separate for the signals.
