Chevrolet: Front disc break pad replacement, screw driver, pad replacement

Question
I have to replace the pads on the front breaks. It has been 15 years since I did this. Please walk me through it. I seem to recall that it involved the use of a "C" clamp. Perhaps that was for the caliper? I only want to replace the pads.

Answer
If its for a Camaro...

OPen the master cylinder cap. After you remove the wheel there are two bolts on the back of the steering knuckle holding the caliper on. Depending on your year it could be either an allen key type hole or a 10mm bolt that you need to unscrew or remove.

Once the caliper is off the rotor you pull the pads off. You might need a large flat screw driver or pry bar to do this.

You use the C-clamp to compress the caliper's piston. Do this SLOWLY about 1/4 turn every 5-10 secs. If you do it too fast you could damage the master cylinder or send fluid all over your engine bay.
