Chevrolet: sensors, throttle position sensor, maf sensor

Question
I have a 95 trans am LT1 automatic ,whats the difference between the MAF and the MAP sensor whats there funtions ,having rough idle as is the motor is shaking alittle off smooth idle  and some when on the gas give rough  hesitant  throttle what should i look for

Answer
The MAF sensor is connected to your rubber intake elbow. It measures the amount of air moving into the engine. The MAP sensor is that small rectangular sensor on the top of your intake manifold near the front. It measures changes in manifold pressure. Basically a backup in case the MAF fails. Rough idle can be caused by a bad throttle position sensor mounted on the side of your throttlebody, old dirty sparkplugs, or a dirty fuel filter. Try the cheap stuff first.
