-----Question-----
I have a 2002 Chevy Impala that in the last two days has started ticking i checked the oil stick and added about 1 quart, ticking stopped but now has begun doing it again, I am scared to drive it ,any ideas?
-----Answer-----
Was your car low on oil? How low? The ticking could be a bad exhaust manifold gasket or bad lifter.

Answer
It depends where the ticking is coming from. If its a bad exhaust gasket, its not a problem. You can drive a few days before getting it fixed. if its a bad lifter, it will be very costly and the more you drive it, the more damage you will do.

Ticking from the valve cover would be a lifter. Ticking from the exhaust manifold would be a gasket.
