Vintage Cars: VIntage Porsche Question, carsinc, mechanical ability

Question
I am looking to refurbish a Porsche, I fancy the mid to late 80's 911's but have found most are either too far gone or too much $. I was wondering your take on other models that would be fun to restore, and drive.  I am not into this for investment purposes and I posess a good deal of mechanical ability.

Answer
Restoring a car can be fun and rewarding. Couple of pointers
1. Restore a car that will have some value at the end.Would not want to have $20k in a car that can't be sold for $5k. Be able to sell so you can move on to next project.
2. Restore a car where parts are somewhat available. Lots of 911 and 912 parts around.
3. Restore a car where you have a support group. Like PCA
4. Plan to spend only a year t or two on project.
5. Plan to most of the work yourself except for paint.
6. Buy a project that you can drive at the end.

PS I have project Porsche's
