Question
i have a 1994 z28 lt1,i dont rod it ,but just a occasional breather, any ways a week ago i replaced the throttle pos. sensor and it cured my late shaift under mid throttle and it cured high  idle and ses light.tonight i was on freeway at about 70 when all of a sudden  bang bang bang out the tail pipe and car slowly losses power and stops running, and smoke come from back of engine compartment,no leaks  of fluid present,no high temp and  no electrical loss,it is getting orange spark to a plug and is turning over what seeems to be normal speeds when trying to start ,it will try to start then sputter out usually like a car that is desieling out  or will idle whith a slow jerking lope that will  not increase rotaion speed the die,i have tried pulling the pcm fuse for a while to reset but it makes no change the car ran perfect  before this happened ,exepyt for new tps replaced

Answer
Check the fuel pressure. It sounds like the fuel pump was dying and the PCM was pulling timing because it was running so lean. Attach a manual fuel psi guage to the car and tape it to your windshield. Does the fuel psi come up slowly or fast? It should be above 37.5 psi.
