Chevrolet: duel tank switch, chevy stepside, broken tank


Question
I have a 79 chevy stepside(i don't no if that matters) and reacently my gas switch stopped working, i have duel tanks and the carb doesn't get gas when i switch over now, my other tank works fine.  And i know there's gas in the 'broken'tank.  my fuel gauge also drops to e.  any solutions, suggestions would be much apppreciated:)

 HI - well it sounds like the switch  or the transfer switch
causing the switch over from tank to tank, it could even be a cloged filter or line, so it will have to be looked at. I would look to see if the pick up screen is clogged up on the bad side. and see if the transfer switch is working.  it is probably  a simple thing. and if the gauge drops to (e)  but if its full than thats the gauge. if worse comes to worse all you have to do is remove the transfer switch from tank 1 and tank 2 and run a split y so each tank will have a hose , note it should have a filter or screen on the end of each hose- now this way the two tanks shall act as one tank and it will feed from the two at all times and the gauge should work also. caution -if you do use any new type of hose or line - you must use a gas type that is made for its use or if any line is exposed out of the tank - use a steel braided line . with the proper clamps. ok.and mount any loose lines ..ok..>>
