Chevrolet: 2000 Chevy Impala LS, chevy impala, maf sensor

Question
I have a 2000 Chevy Impala LS with 98,608 miles on it. when cool it starts ok. Once it starts to read on the temperature gauge it starts to stutter and eventually die, then it won't restart till it cools down a few hours later. I have taken it to a chevy dealership and they said it was the fuel pump. I have replaced the fuel pump and the fuel filter but it still does the problem. It has been hooked up to a diagnostic computer but it hasn't kicked a code for it to register. please help.

Answer
When was the last time you changed the O2 sensors? If they are going bad they start to read lean and the fuel pump dumps more fuel in till it chokes itself out.

One way to check is to pull one of the spark plugs right after the car sputters and dies. If its wet or sooty black, that means its running too rich. Too much fuel.

Could also be a bad MAF sensor but its usually O2 sensors.
