Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro GTS Front Drive Slipping, toro transmission

Question
It doesn't really slip . . . it GRINDS. All cables adjusted, good belt, but inside the "gear box" the mechanism seems to have some slop or unnecessary movement and when engaged, it grinds.  HELP!!!  Can I just buy a new gear box thingy? I sure don't see any adjustments to fix this problem.

Answer
You're probably right about needing to replace the transaxle.  There's no good way to work on them.  You probably can remove the cover from the input side and I imagine you'll find it full of grass and dirt.  Let me know the model and serial number of your mower and I'll get you a part number.  Thanks, PK.
