Chevrolet: firebird2, nuts and bolts, ok condition

Question
hey, funds are limited...but i did run all of the gas outa it...fixed a 1ft. section of coroded fuel line..put 2 gallons of good gas in it...cleaned up the plugs..checked the wires..cap and rotor..everything is ok..could use a tuneup but ok condition.oil is a lil thin and has some gas in it..that could be why it pings on the drivers side...actually...its running pretty good for what i have to work with...still some black smoke every once in a while..now what i want to do is remove whats left of the air conditioning unit. the air compressor was already gone..and the tubes that run to the other side of the engine and to the radiator where gone already too...so, how do i get the pop can lookin thing and the part that comes outof the firewall off safely?i actually want to take the engine out clean it up and paint what i can..but i fear it may be too hard.. what do you think?

HI  well as far as the engine - it is not that hard to take it out , but you must have a good hoist ,etc. and as far as the a/c just take out all of the nuts and bolts that hold the a/c parts in but if there is any gas still in the system do not get it in your eyes -it will make you blind- for ever !...
