Chevrolet: chevy bucks and stalls, carbarator, carberator

Question
I know you said up to 1975 but I'm at my wits end my son has a 1988 Monte Carlo V8, automatic thats all I know and he has been driving it for at least 6 months while it has been acting up. You have to let it warm up like it was the dead of winter even in the summer then you can only drive it for about 30 min before it starts to buck, hesitate and want to stall out. Traffic lights are like a pending nightmare and if you slow down at all you are asking to stall out! My son thinks it's the carberator, I'm hoping a vac leak what do you think?

Answer
Deb;
   I remember when I was a kid with a car , back in the olden days, with some friends pushing it to the gas station,when gas was 45 cents a gal... LOL. I would look at the carbarator and choke it could be sticking and the carb. might be in need of a adj. and when was the last tune up ? also check for a broken or loose vacume hose. good luck.
