Chevrolet: Chevy Impala Starting Problem, chevy impala, rochester carb

Question
Roger,  I have a 1966 Chevy Impala 283 cid 2 barrel carb(2GV) with PowerGlide. It is all stock, numbers match and been in the family since new.  Just got it back on the road. I am experiencing a problem with hard starting after warm up.  Cold start is fine and the engine runs really nice and strong otherwise.    Engine was rebuilt all to Chevy specs, nothing fancy just stock.  Included are new plugs, wires, distributor and rebuilt Rochester carb.  Timing is 4 deg BTDC, dwell is 30 deg. Vacuum reading indicates normal.  Vac lines look good.  It used to start on the first try and not give me a sinking feeling on restart as it does now.  What gives?  Any clues for me to look for?  Cruise season is almost here and got to get it going after all these years!
Thanks,

Gerald

Answer
Hi Gerald;
        I remember a few that  would do that , it could be the timing , or the dist could even be off a tooth if it was put in wrong ? it could be the fuel / vapor lock try to pump the gas prior starting it when its hot . also , I would try to play with the dist. a bit and see if that helps you .  it could even be the starter / solinoid at times if the fields start to go it will do the same thing . so there are a few things you can look at  ok and good luck 2 U
