Chevrolet: Resetting error code, chevy silverado, computor

Question
I pulled my instrument cluster off on my 1989 Chevy silverado to fix the odometer(hasn't moved in 4 years).  I found a broken gear and was able to glue it together and put it all back together, but now I get an error code of a repeating 9.  Can I reset it?

Answer
John;
 I think that once  a speedometer has been open or messed with , it is illegal to re-use it again and as far as the code I'm not shure - but I think that the computor is rejecting it and the car might not even start if you try to use the old unit .I would look into a new unit , I do not have the code book with me so I do not know for shure but I do know that you can not use a repaired or opened up speedometer /odometer as what is to keep you from putting the miles back .
