Chevrolet: theft system, chevy cavalier, shame shame

Question
-------------------------
Followup To We have put a new steering column in and it stil does it and yes I understand that it is doing what it is suppose to do, but it is a factory theft system, we feel if we could just bypass it we would have our problem fixed , even after new column with new ignition it still does the same thing.
Question -
OK ,I had a problem with my ignition key on my 1996 chevy cavalier, we had to hit and wiggle the key to get it to turn. One day it just wouldnt turn, so we hot wired it and we didnt know there was a factory theft system on it , so now the car will start then die out. What can we do? We took it to a dealer ship to have the computer re programed and they say that isnt the problem, but we had no problems before.

you should never have banged the key -shame -shame
well I guess that a new key switch will have to be put in and check any and all wires for shorts . with jumping the wires the alaram system did what it was made to do and kill the car , so first is the new switch than check all wires and if the cars alaram has a hand switch use that and try itwhen you start the car , is the battery in the switch good..

Answer
 you replaced the entire column?
ok try this  run a wire from the pos on the battery to the pos. on the ing. coil - hook to batt. only when ready to start . than jump the starter so it turns over and with the wire on the pos hooked up it should start , also is there a hand held alaram device that you can switch on and off-arm - dis-arm/ , if so is the battery in it good and  be shure it is in the right setting and try to start it.it should start if it is all hooked up right.............
