Chevrolet: 92 Chevy Corsica master cylinder, chevy corsica, brake master cylinder

Question
I have a 92 Chevy Corsica which needs the brake master cylinder replaced, according to my mechanic, who has always done right by me.  He said that fixing the problem in this model requires replacing the entire ABS system and would cost around $1,700.  I called another brake mechanic (don't know him) and he said he could just replace the cylinder.  Can you please advise?

Answer
Hi julianne;
          I do not know why he would wish to charge that much and replace the entire unit. I checked the price of a OEM - replacement master cyld. and they are under $200.00
for a new one.I would try a brake shope like bear or one of those types. they do brakes all day long and  they stand buy
the work .
