While driving down the road, my truck started losing power ( kind of like running out of gas ) which made me believe I was out of gas.

after filling it up and starting the truck to get to the nearest gas station it cuts out again.
this time I noticed the battery light coming on.
I towed the truck home, and checked the belts, charged the battery, replaced the relay switches, checked for any blown fuses, but it won't even turn over now.

The headlights come on, and the dash lights.
But nothing else works ( like the winsheild
wipers ) I don't know what else to do.

Hi Reid;
OK well first  off how old is the battery ? it could be dead. and that would cause you to stall out and not re-start. Also it might give you enough juice so the lights can come on but thats about it, also if it was going the battery light would also come on, as long as it is charging , than the alt. is ok but if the battery is dead than thats it.I would first off see if you can get a jump - if it starts right up than it is the battery. if you do re start it look and see if it is charging if so, than the battery will not hold a charge and it is running off the engines charging system and thats  not enough to keep it going . so try  a jump or charge the battery up and see if it will start > ok

I charged the battery at an auto place, and the tester said it was ok.
I put it back in the truck and still...nothing.

Haa, thats not good,
how are all of the conections, on the battery and block and on the starter, also is the starter ok, can you smell anything burnt ? does it have a fuseable link,is it burnt out ?

I didn't smell anything...but it's pretty cold outside.
It does have a fuseable link...because I've been reading about it.
I haven't looked into it yet, it got dark outside so maybe tomorrow.

omg, I hope it's nothing that's hard to fix.
I'm really not into taking things apart too good without getting them back together.

also, I looked at the connections for the battery
everything looks normal to me
is there some kind of fuse that I don't know about?
other then something inside the starter?

Answer
Hi Reid,
Well there is not that much that could be wrong as far as your trouble goes , I would have said it is the battery, but yes it could be the starter or the selonoid or the fields in it are gone, as in burnt out. I do not think it is a major thing by what you have stated, You said it is cold out I'm in new york state so it is cold here now not real cold but cold enough. If you can get a jump with your charged battery in it , will it start ? if so again it must be the battery, if not I would look at the starter. OK
and have a Merry Christmas.
