Auto Electronics: 2000 dodge neon turn signals, turn signal switch, dodge neon

Question
I have a 2000 dodge neon 2.0 sohc. History is this I had been experiencing my interior lights on my radio clock and dash when i have my headlights on at night, when this happens I click the brightness down one click and it seems to reduce or stop the flicking.  Well, today my turn signals stopped working. All the lights light up but turn signals don't flash and the turn signal lights on the dash don't light up and flash to indicate they are flashing either. I have checked the fuses in the interior panel beside the steering column.  So I am thinking it is the headlight and turn signal switch in the steering column that has went haywire.  Am I correct in this assumption?

Answer
Yeah, it is a common issue on these, the multifunction switch is a high failure rate item, so more than likely thats your problem although it is still recommended to check for power directly getting to the switch (from fuse 1 from the fuse block & from fuse 15 from the power distribution center).

Your "flickering" lights might not be related though, more than likely is either a battery thats going weak, bad battery terminals or a failing diode in the alternator (you would have to replace the whole alternator), my suggestion is to have the starting/charging system chequed and if everything ok then just live with it unless you want to replace the alternator.
