Chevrolet: Power steering bracket on cavalier, bolt holes, power steering pump

Question
I recently replace timing chain &gears on my son's 1997 cavalier. While doing this I had to take the power steering pump loose and remove the lower motor mount bracket to remove oil pan. The power steering bracket fell out when I removed the bracket bolts. Now I'm haveing trouble getting the bracket in correctly. I need to know if the power steering bolts on directly to block or on the outside of the bracket holding the engine mount. Having problems with the tracking of serpitine belt.

Answer
HI Dave
I have not worked on one of those modles, as stated I only do cars from the 50s to the 70s but, I do think that the bracket mounts to the engine and than the power str. to the bracket, when you do so do not tighten up on the bolts  keep them a bit loose this way you will have a bit more room to move the bracket around ,also did you try to use a rod or something to line up the bolt holes. And the belt you have to take up the slack on the adj. arm when replacing the belt. I hope you did not turn  the engine over when the belt was not on it.It will mess up the timeing. good luck
