Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs and Stratton Model 130232 Type T536-01, briggs coil

Question
When replacing the coil on this mower, are there any adjustments that need to be made?

Answer
If all you're replacing is the coil, you only need something to set the air gap between the coil and flywheel.  I use a dollar bill folded in half myself.

With the screws that hold the copil on loose, hold the coil as far from the flywheel as the adjustment slots will let you.  Then rotate the flywheel until the flywheel magnets are under the armature of the coil and insert your spacer, be it a business card, folded dollar or the paper tool that came with the coil. Then let the magnet pull the coil to the flywheel and tighten the screws. Then just rotate the flywheel to retrieve you spacer and spin it around a few times to make sure nothing is rubbing.

Let me know if this isn't what you needed.  Thanks, PK.
