Chevrolet: 1992 Chevy A/C, compressor clutch, c operation

Question
You were the only one available so I thought I'd ask. This is for a 1992 C1500 350 v8 truck, but the A/C systems may be similar to the cars. Here's my quetion. After being converted to 134a, the A/C ran OK for a while and then the A/C light on the dash panel will start flashing. The mechanic that serviced it said the charge level was OK so I don't think it is leaking (although it could be). He also replaced the switch on the side of the receiver can. I know there are several switches that control the A/C operation. Could one of these be bad (even the one that was replaced)? or is there a low frean condition? What other switches should I check. Currently the compressor will not run at all and as a result I can't check the pressur level or recharge. What can I do to get the compressor to run? I believe there may be something else wrong rather than the freon level.

Answer
Hi Russell, unplug the low pressure switch and short the two plugs in the wire if the compressor starts then the problem is either the switch or the refridgerant it too low. If it dosent start the problem is electrical of the compressor clutch. I hope this helps you if you need more info just let me know. Regards, Keith.
