My ac/heater blower motor cuts out intermittently.  I just replaced the blower motor in an unsuccessful attempt to correct the problem.  The relay is only about 6 months old.  The car is a 1985 S-10 Blazer.  Thanks for any help.

Hi Robert, usually the motor is the cause of this problem, but you already changed that and the relay. Did you check the switch? Also check the fuses for loose or incorrect positioning. I hope this helps you if you need more info just let me know. Regards, Keith.

  Hi Keith,
Thanks for responding to my question.  I bypassed the switch with a jumper wire & the fuse itself is OK.  I tried to wiggle the fuse around incase of a loose connection, but otherwise I'm not sure how to look further into that.
The motor used to cut out intermittently.  Now, it seems to not work at all anymore.

Hi Robert, first of all run a test wire from the positve terminal on the battery to the plug on the blower motor to make sure that its working, also make sure the motor is grounded. If the motor works then you need a wiring diagram, pull out the switch and with a test light check to see if there is a power supply to the switch(the colors you will get from the diagram). Let me know what you find and we will go to the next step. Regards, Keith.
  Hi Again Keith,
The motor does work.  The fan works at all speeds now(it started working again).  The a/c works & so does the vent position but not defrost.  I hope that gives another clue. Robert

Hi Robert, im glad to hear you got part of it fixed. If the other positions work fine then it must be the defrost flap stuck or something has fallen down inside the defrost vents. Remove the glove compartment, you can see some of the vacuum motors that control the flaps inside the heater assembly, maybe you will see wich one is not working. I hope this helps you if you need more info just let me know. Regards, Keith.
  Hi Keith,
I'm sorry, this must be driving you crazy by now.  It turns out the defroster was not working simply because the selector switch needed to be "tweaked" into position.  As it stands right now, everything is working properly.  However, the original problem was that the blower motor would cut out intermittently.  I can't pinpoint where the intermittent problem is exactly.  As I wrote before, the blower motor & relay are new.  Could you give me some advice on checking the switch for intermittent problems?   Robert

Answer
Hi Robert, dont worry about asking questions, thats what were are here for. To check the switch, the next time the blower stops running pull out the switch and check to see if there is a power supply to the switch, if there is a power supply then check to see if it is coming out of the switch. all you need is a test light. I hope this helps you if you need more help just let me know. Regards, Keith.
