Chevrolet: 02 Impala Electrical Problems, electrical problems, alternator

Question
My wife parked the car in the garage this evening and all was well, she went to start it a little while later and there was a lot of clicking from relays in the dash and under the hood. The car never turned over and I finally had to unhook the battery to stop this from continuing, the alternator was also clicking. The battery smelled like it was drained to discharge, the car has had the turn signal issues also that I have not corrected yet.  Any help would be great the car is dead in the garage, could this be a shorted out alternator?  I have never seen anything like this before that has relays and switches clicking on and off even when the key is in the off position and out of the ingition.

Answer
Hi Tracy, Yes the alternator could be the problem. You could have it Checked at most autoparts stores. In the mean time you should push the car out of the garage, or at least disconnect the battery until you find out the problem. If it is shorted somewhere it could catch on fire. Talk to the dealer and see if there is any known problems like yours. I hope this helps you, If you need more info just let me know. Regards, Keith.
