Chevrolet: 90 Lumina Euro, salvage yard, gm parts

Question
We just bought a 1990 Lumina Euro for our daughter and twice she has left the lights on and the battery has run down. We think there should be a warning when she shuts off the engine. Could it be a bad chime module in the control panel under the glove box? What else is possible? What could I expect to pay for one at a GM parts store? How about the salvage yard?

Answer
Hi Jim, it is possible that the chime module is not working,(although I have never seen one be defective)I also have seen that some people remove them because they say the sound annoys them. Buy a one from a salvage yard should be fine($10 to $20). You can also get a wiring diagram, the dealer should photocopy it for you. This will allow you to check the circuit for broken wires. I hope this will help you, if you need more info just let me know. Regards, Keith
