Chevrolet: V.I.N. # on drivers side door, car door, insp

Question
My 2005 cavalier car door was damaged at the dealership workshop.they wanted to "repair" the damage ,I insisted that they will replace the door. they couldn't replace the door with a door from another 2005 cavalier (from the dealershit lot) because they say that each door has V.I.N.# that corresponds to the certain car.therefor they advised me that they will order a brand new door from the factory. now...my question is,how do I know that they did not "just repaired" my original door and indeed  replaced it with a new door? are all the doors in the car have V.I.N.# marked on ? could you direct me to the location of the V.I.N. # on the door?

I appriciate your reaponse,
And thank you for your attention,

deena.

Answer

HI;
  Deena, I never heard of that, I dont know why they just could not put a new door on it , I do not think that you will get a new door with your vin # on it. as that comes from the line when it is built as far as I know. it is a lil plate with the no # on it. as the no# on the dash is the vin# where the insp. sticker goes. on the driver side bottom of windshield . that is the vin # so the new door has the same # that Is wild if it does.I do not know how they did that and if your door was fixed you should be able to tell if it was your door by any marks that were on it and by the way it looks.If you cant tell than the job was done well . so I would not worry about it but the next time if there is one you should make a lil mark or put your name in a spot where they will not find it and if it is still there when it comes back fixed and you can still see your name than you know it was not replaced, right !!!
good luck 2 - U
