Chevrolet: Power steering pump for a 1986 S-10, power steering fluid, power steering pump

Question
Hi,
  I have an electric vehicle converted from an 86 chevy S-10, i've recently obtained a power steering gear box and pump for it, but i can't find out what size of motor i need to run it, rpm and hp wise, i've been told anywhere from 1/2-15 hp.  My own instincts tell me that a 1 hp motor that turns around 3000 rpm would be more than enough for this application, but i need to be sure, since i don't have the time to buy a motor and then have to send it back for a different one.  So if you could give me some sort of advice on what sort of power requirements this pump requires, or even if you could find out the inlet and exit pressure on the power steering fluid through the pump, i think i could figure it out, thanks a lot.  oh, also, i realize such an old pump is hard to find info on, if need be, even up to a 2004 pumps info would be something.

Answer
HI;
 wow a elect. car, I do not know the specs. that you are asking me for as I have never done any thing like that, the only thing that I can think of is to go to your local library and you can go to the auto repair section and they should have enough tech. books that you can find what you need or you could go to a local book store and look in the books just dont buy them as thay cost a lot.
i wish I could have helped you more
good luck
