Chevrolet: Car wont turn over, chevy monte carlo, work security

Question
1996 Chevy Monte Carlo 3100 V6

Was running fine. Had for 2 years. No trouble. Replaced battery 3 months ago. Ran to a friend's house for half a sec and came back to start the car. turned key...power, lights and radio came on, but the engine would not start. Got under the hood, jumped the starter and it started. It ran smooth for about 5 seconds then quit. Jumping the starter did cause it to turn over fast, we have a full battery charge. Have a pass2 security key system...did everything to bypass that. Used wd40 on contacts...still doesn't work. Security light on dash is flashing. Checked all fuses....I'm a 23 year old girl...I can't afford major car repair. Do you think this is simple?

Answer
There is a problem in the security system that is causing it not to start. It is probably a problem in the ignition lock cylinder. That is the most common failed part. If you can get it towed to the shop and diagnosed, that would be better than guessing at the problem. But I know that it is deffinately a problem in the security system.
