I have a 1998 Chevy Camaro (V6) with 65,000 miles on it. I bought it used from a Chevy dealer in May 2003. It has an immaculate history and has been problem free. However, while driving on the parkway today, the steering wheel began to shake violently when I accelerated past 50 mph. The entire car seemed to be vibrating. The car runs quite smoothly when I'm driving below 50 mph. There are no problems with acceleration or steering (with the exception of a very slight pull to the right). Any ideas? I will be bringing it in for service and want to go in there informed to insure that I'm not taken for a ride. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Jennie,
This is Major Nelson,, lol,,
You could have a tire that is out of balance, or the tire could be warped. As for the pulling, your alignment is off, and will need to be aligned. Hope this helps you, TY..

Thanks for letting me know that there's nothing seriously wrong with my baby. Now that you mention it, I do need a new set of tires. Any suggestions on what would be the best tires for this particular car (moderately priced of course, since I'm still paying off my car loan, lol)? We've had a really bad winter and this car does not handle well at all on snow or wet roads (even when the SGS is engaged). I'm tempted to just load my trunk with bricks, but that would take quite a toll on my gas milage.

First of all when you get the new tires installed, have the alignment done right away. This way it will save less wear on the tires. I would suggest Goodyear tires for this car, maybe with a 70 thousand mile warranty. I would kinda shop around and get some estimates, on tires, they are not cheap these days. Sometimes places that sell tires run a special like 10 percent off, ect. The only reason they do is is to get ready for more inventory that is coming their way. Hope this somewhat helps you in your search. Good Luck...
