Dodge: 1997 Dodge neon code help, negative battery cable, air fuel ratio

Question
-------------------------
I reset it by unhooking only the negative battery cable, then touching it to the positive terminal and cable for only a few seconds. A tech at our local dodge dealership told me about this instead of having to pay to have it done. I need information on the code (32) i got useing the ignition method to read the code. Thanks.

1997 dodge neon (hi-line)2.0 SOHC Automatic
I had the service engine soon light come on for what would seem like no
apparent reason. I found out the code useing the ignition method. Two
codes came up 12 and 32. I have the meaning of the code from a haynes
manual, however is doesn't help me in what maybe wrong. An opened or shorted condition detected in the EGR soleniod circuit. Possible air/fuel
ratio imbalance not detected during dianosis. I've checked the EGR, it seems to be working fine. I know it could be many things that could have caused it. This started over a year and a half ago. I thought i have fixed the problem, i reset the computer, then a couple of days later it came back on with the same codes. Now just over a year ago the head gasket failed and there was oil in the water. The car had to sit til we could get the money and a place to fix it. I spent the last few months working on it and everything seem fine. Then just last week the light came back on with same code after it being driven for a couple of days. The car runs fine, however i'd like to fix the problem in case it  could lead to a serious problem down the road. Any information would help and i appreciate you time expertise, Thank you Eric M.

When you reset the computer did you unhook the battery or use a scan tool to erase the codes?

Answer
E.G.R. system failure or solenoid circuit problem is what the code means. The reason i asked is because i know on most of the late model vehicles that just unhooking the negative cable doesn't reset the computer some have to be reset with a scan tool. Not positive on this vehicle you may want to check with a dealer.I know you mentioned he is a tech there but you may want a second opinion.
