Dodge: air intake, dodge ram 1500, cold air intake

Question
Hi, My question isn't really mechanical. I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 with the Hemi. I've put a cold air intake on it and some people tell me it will void my warranty. I've looked on some web sites and most all of them say it is illegal to void a warranty for after market items. I just want to make sure. Oh, by the way, I have the MPG read out and the temp. read out etc. I was wondering how accurate these are. According to the read out the intake has made a huge difference in gas mileage. I know it has to be fairly accurate because I don't have to get gas every couple of days anymore. I never fill it all the way up anyway. I don't have that kind of money. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Answer
James,
Any tampering with or modifying any vehicle under warranty can void the warranty. But it's always best to check with a dealer before taking anyones advice. If anything goes wrong with the vehicle it is very easy for the dealer to try and say that the part caused the problem, not to say this is always the case because the dealers do not honor the warrany anyway Chrysler does. But the dealer will contact them and say the modifications were made.As far as the m.p.g i don't know, never installed one.Contact the manufacturer and ask them how accurate they are.
