Dodge: 1998 Dodge Stratus ES 2.3 liter V6, dodge stratus, inline filter

Question
-------------------------Thanks. Yeah, I realize the location of the fuel filter...I also was thinking maybe the fuel pump? Well, I got it to the dealer this morning and should know in the next 24hrs. Thanks for your insight, and I'll let you know.

Hi, in the last day and a half, my car has experienced 2 instances in which the car would turn-over, sounds like it wants to start up, but
isn't. It took some time stepping on the gas pedal before the engine finally started to sound like it was going to start, then eventually did. The battery is good, just had the oil changed and have 1/2 tank of fuel. I was wondering if the O2 sensor could be going bad or maybe the fuel filter needed to be replaced, or does it sound like a problem you've answered/experienced
in the past. My dealership is, literally around the corner. What could be happening and what could it cost. Thanks for your time.

It could be an o2 sensor but the engine light would be on.It can also be the fuel filter but you'll have to check and see if it has an inline filter most of them are in the tank.

Answer
It is most likely the fuel pump, when you turn the key to the start position you should be able to hear the fuel pump make a humming sound, but if the car is starting up you'd hear it anyway because the pump would have to pump the fuel to make it start. But the pump could just be starting to fail.
