Answer - follow up ! Thank you for your response, engine light does not come on before truck stops ! one mechanic said that it was the o2 sensor !coil pins tight fit ? cut wire to the pins and reset ?  this is the 3rd coil ! truck will run smooth then bam ! cuts out!

thanks for your time !
Larry,
Did the engine light come on before the truck quit on you?As far as the coil pins,i've never heard the term used that way.I do know that normally it means a bad coil. For this i mean you should get a second opinion never go on what the first person says, for the simple fact that any sensor on the truck could cause this problem.I asked about the engine light because when the engine light comes on it saves a code in the computer and can be read by a scanner that autozone can do for you.A crank sensor can cause this.

Answer
I would raise the question about the fuel pump. This can also cause this problem,It's hard to say.As far as anything to do with the coil,it would not start,it would just spin over,I don't think the coil is the problem. An o2 sensor would cause the engine light to come on.The fuel pump would not give you any clue as to when the truck was going to quit. The fuel pump is what i would check.
