Ford: fuel flow probs, 86 ford 6.9, cam gear, fuel pressure

Hi Im having a fuel prob with my 86/6.9 F250 New mech pump. Fill the filter an it will run at a idle till the filter won't pick up the fuel. Seems to me that i have a major prob with it.Tryed everything that i know what to do .Fill the filter it will run, but i can't drive it more than a half mile or so.Didn't do the fuel pressure thing. Any thing that you could suggest, i'll try to do it.Itreally need the truck to work with.Thanks for the help Dave

First did you ck fuel pressure?Then if you can you need to ck on the cam gear to see if the lobe is worn down.which will cause the plunger not to move when cranking over. try to looking into the hole to see if you can see if it is moving while cranking over.
