Ford: Hello Robert, I asked a question..., o2 sensors, auto parts store

Question
Hello Robert, I asked a question last week about my 1992 Ford Explorer 4.0 4X4 with 198,000 miles.  I am having trouble with the truck starting hard when warm and smelling rich fumes, the truck is getting terrible mileage.  You suggested I get a code tester, well I have purchased one from the auto parts store, that says it will test the 91-95 4.0.  It describes the 6 sided diagnostic connector, I can not find the thing can you point me in the right direction.  The closest I can come is an ovel connector on the drivers side front engine compartment by the headlight, it has a little cap on it.  Thanks for any additional help you can offer, Also does my truck have 2 O2 sensors or one.

Thank You Matt

Answer
You have found the correct ALDL connection, but your
scanner is not the correct one for the year model.
OBDII system should be used for this one. I would let
a shop run a completed test on this one and you should ask
for a printout of the results. The truck has two O2
sensors.
