Ford: DAMNED!! Am I screwed!!!, ford f 350, oil leaks

Question
Hello,
I just bought a used 2001 ford F-350 super duty dually 4x4. I did a good once over on the vehicle, noting the minor oil leaks and such, then bought the truck. I did not notice on inspection that the front clip had been replaced. The welds are totally vertical and with no extra bracing plates welded on. will my front end fall off the truck, did I get screwed in the deal? Otherwise it seems to drive great exept for the odds pop noise in the front end. The welds look ok but not full around the frame.

Answer
Hello,

You have a couple of options.

1 .If you bought the truck through a sales lot, you have 10 days I believe to return it and cancel the contract with no reason needed.

2. the transfer paper had to disclose that the vehicle was a rebuild. If not, that is fraud and can be handled in court.  Give the seller the option of taking it back or refunding a  reasonable amount.  He may decide this is cheaper.

3. Take the truck to a frame shop and have the repair inspected. If it was welded correctly and aligned, you shoulsd have no problems.  Check what the cost for the inspection would be.

Either way.  If the seller did not report the damage or repair to you, I would report it to your provincial vehicle registration, so he doesn't try it again.
