Ford: 1988 ford ranger, auto parts store, flex plate

Question
Hi, can you tell me does the flex-plate (flywheel) on a 1988 ford ranger 2.3 AT go on the engine with the teeth closest to the engine or closest to the transmission. The reason I'm asking because it's offset and I think someone may have installed the original one backwards. Thanks, Anthony

Answer
If I'm not mistaken it should say on there which way it goes.  If not, go to your local auto parts store and look in a book on that truck real quick and it should show you which way it in.  They should let you look at that without buying the book. Then again having a book on the truck is kind of a good thing to have for future references on the truck.
