Ford: ford probe, spark plug wire, blown fuse

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1989 ford probe and we are not getting fire from the coil. We have changed the coil already...where do we go now?

ANSWER: So you you have pulled the spark plug wire and checked for spark and you have none right?  If you are not getting any fire from the coil to the distributor I would check the the coil to the distributor wire and also check for a good connection (wiring harness) to the coil itself.  If that does not help I would check for a possible blown fuse.  You may be getting fire from the coil to the distributor but not getting it from the distributor to the spark plugs.  If that is the issue you could have a bad rotor button or possible a bad distributor cap and in the worse case a bad distributor.  Hit me back with anymore questions.

QUESTION: We are not getting fire from the coil to the distributor. We have checked all the fuses, changed coils, and even changed the computer.

Answer
I can't remeber exactly if this particular car has a crank positioning sensor due to the fact it has a distributor. Ask your local auto parts store if it has one. If it does, replace that and I think that will cure your issue. If It doesn't have a crank positioning sensor, let me know and I will forward your question to another expert that has more experience with small cars. Let me know either way and we will get this problem solved for you.
