Ford: 2000 Ford Ranger, obd ii, size tires

Question
I have a 2000 Ranger w/3.0L Automatic. My issue is, when I changed from snow tires to street tires and vise versa my ABS light comes on, Speedometer fluctuates, check engine light comes on, and sometimes OD light flashes. I have recently replaced the speed sensor.
My OBD-II diagnostic tool shows codes for Speed Sensor, and Fuel Composition Sensor. Some times the engine will stall at which time the OBD-II indicates a PO-0320 code which can be cleared to restart.
Would changing tire size cause this? Any help is appreciated.

Answer
Hi

If the outside size of the tires are the same as what is called for by the manufacturer, then you will not see a sensor problem.

Basically, stand the summers against the winters.  If there is a heaight problem, then you will have transmission, ABS and speedo problems.

You can get the ECM recalibrated each time to compensate, but this would be more expensive that getting the proper size tires.

The Code P0320 indicates an engine speed problem.

The most common causes are a failing Crankshaft speed sensor, or arcing at the coil.
