Ford: car alarm, mercury mountaineer, keypad code

Question
i just purchased a 1997 Mercury mountaineer and it has the factory alarm and key less remote but the remote only has the panic button not the alarm set button how do i set the alarm with out the keypad code

Answer
to reprogram a fob (remote), turn ignition switch from off to on 5 times in 10 seconds ending in on position.
Doors should then lock and unlock on their own to let you know that reprogram mode has been entered.

push any button on the fob. doors should lock and unlock. programming complete.

If this does not work, you may not have a Ford fob, or you may have a burned fuse or module problem or other.

Have someone scan the antitheft module for codes.

Alarm is automatically enabled when you open a door and push the door lock button , then close the door. Theft light should come on in about 30 seconds.  Using the key in the door cylinder disables the antitheft.
You can also enable the antitheft by pushing the 7/8 and 9/0 button at the same time.

Let me know if you wish to try programming the keypad on the door, i will try to find the procedure.
