Ford: alternator wiring, ford fairmont, wht blk

Question
1980 Ford Fairmont Wagon alternator wiring
dropped the alternator to get the water pump replaced when doing so I believe I screwed up a wire on the alternator. I have two wires coming off of the negative terminal on the alternator and one of them has no home. Where oh where does it go?

Answer
Hi,

I'm sorry that i cannot post wiring diagrams, but the fairmont only has 3 wires to the alternator.

1 heavy blk/org wire to the battery, and one org/lt blu wire and a wht/blk wire to the regulator.

If there are other wires, I suspect that they are simply grounds.  Ground them to the neg term of the battery or frame/ engine and see how it does.
