Ford: Ford Thunderbird Question, head gasket failure, ford thunderbird

Question
I'm looking at a used 1992 Ford Thunderbird in otherwise immaculate condition with 95K miles on it.  Says the motor runs strong but Ford says it needs new head gaskets.  It's $600.00.  How much does replacing the head gaskets generally cost?  Do you think it's a good deal if that's all that is wrong?  Thanks

Answer
To answer that, I would need to know the engine size.  I assume it has factory installed AC and no aftermarket bolt ons.

The Ford 3.8 engines were well known for head gasket failure. A problem blamed on Aluminum heads on a cast iron motor.
Either way, if the heads are not cracked and the cylinders damaged from water, I would guess about $150 for parts, $150 for surfacing and pressure testing the heads and 6 or so hours labour, which here, is $100 per hour.
