Ford: SERVICE ENGINE SOON light, scan tool, ford escort

my car is an Ford escort zx2 1999, recently the "service engine soon" light turned on .. so i wanted to know how can i turn off that light ??

you have to use a scan tool to turn orr the light. while you have the car on a scan tool it will tell you why the light came on (the problem). with the light on when your car needs inspection it will fail.go to advance auto or autozone they will do it for free instead of a 100 bucks from a garage.hope this helps.
