Ford: Dont shoot! I come in peace!, haynes repair manual, metallic particles

Question
Yes, I come from the dark side.  I'm having a rather urgent issue with my Chevy, and all the 'experts' over in that department have decided to go on vacation.  I have a long trip to go in in three days, and need some advice.  I hope you can help me.  Here's the problem(s):

I drive a '92 Chevrolet K1500 4x4 (Reg cab, 350CID, AutoTrans) that I bought used a few months ago. I've got the reciepts for the new long-block engine that had been installed, and for a tranny overhaul.  Both repairs happened at 180k miles, and I'm at 196k now.  I've since changed the tranny and differential fluids.

My problem is that once the transmission fluid heats up (normally after 5 mi or so), It will shudder when maintaining any certain speed.  It doesn't matter what gear it's in, it always does it.  If I give it some gas, or let off, the shudder stops until it gets to the new higher/lower speed. The shudder shakes the whole truck, and makes a slight metallic sound (though that may just be my inner fear).  Looking through my Haynes repair manual, I noticed the section about the transfer-case.  I then realized that I hadn't checked the fluid!  So I got under the truck, loosened the filler plug, and removed it.  I was greeted by over a gallon and a half of ATF.  The transfer-case was grossly overfilled (must have been on its side when they filled it).  I changed the fluid, and added the correct amount.  There were no shavings in the old fluid, just the usual microscopic metallic particles.

I've driven the truck a ways since then, but the shudder is still there.  I got under it the other day with a crowbar and checked the tranny mounts to see if they were loose, but they were tight.  So I don't know what else to do.

Next problem!
After the tranny is fully warmed up (after 20 miles or so) around 40-55 mph, it likes to jump rapidly back and forth between 3rd(?) and overdrive. If I take it out of overdrive it stops.  I have no idea why it does this. I've changed all the fluids/filters, and this problem persists. (Why me?!) If you give it more gas, it will settle on a gear that it likes (either 3rd or OD), and if you let off, it shifts to overdrive.

I know a lot of guys that have said "That's what you get for buying a Chevy", but I've owned both brands, and both have been great.  I bought this beacuse it had parts commonality with our Chevy Suburban (300k on it and she runs like a top)... hoping that it would make routine maintenance easier.  I'd wait for the other 'experts' to come back from vacation, but I need to know if this thing in ready for a 1000 mile trip.  I appreciate your reading this, and hope that you can help me somehow.  If all else fails, I'll take it a dealer... but I really don't want to do that.  O_O

Thanks again!

Answer
there is nothing wrong with chevys. LOL.excep for the body  all vehicle are basically the same concept. now as far as you are concern you my friend sounds like you may have a  bad converter. when you are driving and it is going in and out of gear it is more then likely the Trans is going in and out of lock up.witch means the Trans has to come back out and this time you need to put a good converter in it .
