Ford: Ford V6 Ranger Smells antifreeze, unfortunatly, stop leak

Question
My 2000 Ranger with V6 4WD smells of a leak from antifreeze but no leaks on the ground or any where I can see in the engine or radiator area. It is outside the truck and not the heater core. The smell seems to get better after the engine warms up and I have been watching the antifreeze level and it doesn't seem to go down. Should I Buy a can of stop leak and see if it solves the problem? I heard that flushing the system first sometimes makes the problem worse.before adding the stop leak. Thanks Chuck

Answer
Unfortunatly... this is gonna be a ahrd one... (Because I can't see the truck...) an alternitave to the stop leak is add dye to the coolant and look at it with a black light... You could also check all of the hose clap points on the truck... make sure they are tight and the hose is not leaking near them... as far as the level not changing... I can't help you with that one... if worst comes to worst a local auto shop can pressure test the cooling system for you... (Usualy around 20 - 25.00)   Good luck and sorry not to be much more help than this....
