Ford: 2003 F-350 cutting out on me..., camshaft position sensor, power stroke

Question
I was driving my 2003 F-350 Power Stroke today and was pulling into a gas station and slowing down when it cut out on me.  However, it restarted and away I went.  Then as I pulled into my driveway tonight it did it again, steering locking up (obviously with no power) but my headlights stayed on along with the radio, but the battery light came on.  Could it be the alternator or starter is starting to go??  Maybe a short somewhere??  Any help would be great!!

Answer
Hi there Chris. I am going to assume that you have a 7.3 litre in your Super Duty. If that is the case then you are more then likely going to require a camshaft position sensor. it is located on the front of the engine in the front cover reletively easy to change as well. But before swapping it out i reccomend having the codes read in the PCM that way you can be sure that is the codes that we are dealing with.

Hope this helps

Jim
