Ford: 2002 Ford Windstar, rear hatches, linkage problem

My trunk will not open using the remote or using the key. What is the problem?

Hi there Shirley, By open i hope you are meaning unlock?? if it is not unlocking can you hear it trying to unlock?? Rear hatches on minivans seem to have this problem over time if they do not get used on a regular basis. I recommend if everything seems to be moving normal i e key and handle then we may have a linkage problem inside the door. Have the door panel removed and inspected for problems. Usually you will be able to see what is wrong inside the doors. upon reassembly lubricate all the latches and the handle pivots and lock assembly to try and prevent future binding. Hope this helps
