Ford: Alternator, electrical questions, plug ins

Question
QUESTION: I got a truck and the alternator was already disconnected and then i got a new alternator but can't get the wiring write. There is one wire to the voltage regulator one to the carburetor area and one to the solenoid. where does the positive, negative and FLO go?
ANSWER: Tony, your question is a little confusing.  Do you need to know where the wires go on the rear of the alternator?    Please give me a little more detail.   Jason

QUESTION: I need to know which one is which because it's labeled on the alternator but i don't know which one is which so you can say i need to know were they go on the back of the alternator

Answer
Tony,  Sorry it took so long.  I have been thinking about the best way to explain this to you.  I am guessing that you have a late model 70's pickup.  On the back of your alternator you have three different plug-ins.  Depending on if anyone has changed the wiring, by splicing or what-not, you will have three different colors.  Two of them will go to the voltage regulator.  Those being the FLO, and the negative.  The positive will "tap-in" to the voltage regulator, but it will also go to the solenoid.  Typically, the positive is a terminal that must be attached to the alternator by using a screw.  The other two will typically have "boots" on the end of them.  The FLO will typically be orange, or another bright color, the negative will typically be black or white.  Electrical questions are always hard to answer because you never know what other people have done to the truck.  I hope this helps, and again, I am sorry it took so long.  If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.    Jason
