Ford: 1992 Ford 350 7.3 diesel, diesel school, ft peak

Question
I'm reasonalally knowledgeable about diesels in general, I graduated from a Detroit Diesel school while in the military.  I'm considering buying a 92 Ford w/ 7.3 diesel,... this specific engine model I'm not familiar with at all.  I'd just like some input on it's reputation, whether dependable or a dog?  Do you know any of the typical repair needs, or "weak links" that this engine has developed over the years?  I hear this engine came from the factory naturally asperated... the one I'm looking at has a turbocharger on it!  Has there been any feedback regarding this modification? I need to tow a 7,000 lb boat over a 8,400 elevation ft. peak.  Most of the "locals" say it'll easily do the job, what's your thoughts?
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
Thanx, JAY

Answer
Jay,
I'm sorry to take so long answering your question, I have had some computer problems tat are now fixed.
The 7.3 Lt Diesel has a proven track record as an outstanding engine. It should pull the load you describe with no problem. The added turbo I can not answer for. I suggest your local mechanic about the turbo on this truck.
I would highly recommend the 7.3 Lt. diesel.
Good Luck,
John
