Land Rover Repair: Air conditioning, discovery td5, electrical problem

Question
LR Discovery TD5 1999 (V)= Have recntly had air conditioning checked as it was not working - failed to refill so switch was shorted out and pulled in gas okay therefore presumed faulty switch - replaced with new switch and unit was refilled.  Air con worked for approx 1 hour then failed and blew warm air.  Any ideas what problem could be?

Answer
Your series of statements tells me you're not doing something right.

When the air conditioning is evacuated and recharged by a modern service machine there is no issue of 'failing to refill.'  The machine fills it.

What you are describing sounds like a situation where you are trying to fill the car from a tank and the compressor isn't coming on, so it's not charging.

I suggest you find an AC shop with proper tools and check the system - it will be cheaper in the long run that these guesses.

Does it have a refriferant leak?

Or does it have an electrical problem?

I can't tell from your description but a good AC man should be able to get an answer fairly quickly.
