Ford: Gas Milage, rear axle ratio, ford f 150

Question
While the numbers for truck 's gas milage are not published, I would like to know (in light of the recent gas prices) just what the expected gas milage might be on Ford pickups, both half ton and three quarter series?  This would include all gasoline and diesel configurations.

Is it time to consider a non US pickup, or is there still hope for operating a full sized Ford pickup?

Answer
Lee,
Ford F-150 trucks are rated for gas mileage. You can get the info on-line or at your local dealer on the window sticker.
On F-250s you can expect 17-19 mpg on the diesel and 8-10 on the V-10. This is from conversations with truck owners. Of course, transmission type, rear axle ratio, trailer weight or cargo load, and how you drive will effect your mpg.
As far as the second part of your question there are many reasons why the F-150 has been the best selling vehicle in the world for 28 years in a row. Before you buy another truck you should check out www.fordvehicles.com/trucks/f150/truth .
This will give you some great info for comparing trucks.
