Ford: Strut replacement, comeing, heavy loads

I actually don't own a ford but you sounded the most qualified to answer my question. There is a sqeaking noise comeing from the rear of my car when ever I hit a bump or I turn. So I took it to my mechanic and he said I needed new struts. He said the front was still good but you have to replace the front whenever you replace the rear. Is he trieng to pull one over on me? Jim  what I need to know is the year make and model of this vehicle and mileage  your right I have information on all vehicles and no you don't always have to replace the struts it depends if you use the vehicle for work and you carry heavy loads in the back and so on.
